VAPRO and the educational institute NATIN are developing a dual training program for operators in the process industry of Suriname.
Currently, students in Suriname can choose for a mechanical, electrical or laboratory technology education. Suriname has no education programmes for process technology, in spite of the demand for well trained operators. In some companies the demand was so urgent that VAPRO was asked to provided customized training to close the main shortcomings. The no-nonsense approach from VAPRO works very well in Suriname. Companies see fast results of the training effort, as shown by a better performance. Students indicate that the work is more appealing and they understand their work better.

There is also much demand in Suriname for maintenance training for technicians and operators who frequently have to execute maintenance tasks. VAPRO has recently developed a high quality maintenance training programme specifically focused on operators and technicians in the process industries. Furthermore VAPRO supplies materials for technicians who work in power stations in Suriname and Aruba. These courses are known by the name of REWIC.

To date VAPRO has been active for three years in Suriname and works for a significant number of leading companies, including Heineken subsidiary Parbo Beer and Staatsolie (State Oil).
